A 6 day migration safari in Tanzania is an incredible opportunity to witness one of the world’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles—the Great Migration. This itinerary focuses on the wildebeest calving season, from December to March. Up to 8000 calves are born every day during this magical time for the Wildebeest Migration. The exact timing of the calving season can vary slightly each year depending on the weather conditions, so it’s essential to plan your safari accordingly. During the calving season, the wildebeest herds gather on the nutrient-rich grasslands of the southern Serengeti, where the short grass provides an ideal environment for the newborn calves. The wildebeest synchronise their birthing, which means you can witness an astonishing number of births in a short period. This safari combines visits to the Ndutu region of the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Tarangire National Park.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1: arrival in arusha

You will be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and get transferred to your Lodge in Arusha for your overnight stay.

DAY 2: tarangire NATIONAL PARK

You will be picked up in Arusha by your guide who will brief you on your safari. You will then get transferred to Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park is famous for its large herds of Elephants and the abundance of Baobab trees. You will enjoy a picnic lunch at the park and after your game drive you will be transferred to a lodge or tented camp in Karatu where you will stay overnight.

DAY 3: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK – NDUTU

After breakfast you will head to Serengeti National Park in the Ndutu region where you will spend the next few days exploring the Ndutu plains and witnessing thousands of wildebeest giving birth and the heartwarming sight of newborn calves taking their first steps. Late afternoon you will be transferred to the tented camp for your overnight stay.

DAY 4: serengeti national park – NDUTU – CRATER RIM

You will start your day early and witness an awe-inspiring sunrise game drive in the Serengeti, where the savannah comes alive with predators on the hunt for their morning meal. You will then return back to your accommodation for a late breakfast and to relax before heading out again for a game drive. After your packed lunch you will make your way towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area whilst enjoying game drives along the way. You will visit a Maasai Village and explore the culture of the great Maasai Tribe. You will then be transferred to the lodge or tented camp on the crater rim.

DAY 5: NGORONGORO CRATER – ARUSHA

After an early breakfast you will descend 600m into the spectacular crater full of wildlife and home to the Big 5. You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater and in the early afternoon you will make your way back to Arusha. Overnight at a lodge in Arusha.

DAY 6: DEPARTURE

You will get transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your international flight where your safari program will come to an end.
