Most visitors do require a visa to enter Tanzania. This can either be done online or upon arrival. The ordinary visa (Tourist Visa) is $50 however, US Citizens will need to apply for the Multiple Entry Visa which costs $100.

Yellow fever vaccination is required only if you are arriving from or have transited for more than 12 hours in the airport through a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission.

Most safari packages include meals and activities, so you won’t need much spending money. However, alcoholic drinks are not included as well as other activities not mentioned in the itinerary so it is recommended that people carry some cash for any extras. This can range between $50 and $100 per person per day for all expenses. Bills may be settled by US dollars, or by credit card (accepted at most lodges, camps, hotels). In most large towns, credit cards are accepted at restaurants and shops, and MasterCard and Visa are most common. However, in most small towns or rural areas credit cards may not be accepted so it is recommended to always carry cash in hand.
