EXPERIENCE

The first thing that you need to ask yourself is what sort of experience are you looking for.

  • Do you want a more laid back experience?

We can customise your trip to be more relaxing so you can enjoy Africa at its finest at your own pace. You can combine days with game drives with days in between relaxing by the pool at the lodge, if your time allows it. Depending on your itinerary you can choose activities such as a sundowner or a balloon safari, taking in the beautiful colourful sky of Tanzania.

You could also choose to have a few days of safari while the rest you fly to Zanzibar and enjoy your vacation by the white-sand beaches and turquoise waters.

Serengeti National Park has longer game drives so if you want less tiring safaris you can choose the other famous national parks such as Tarangire National Park or Lake Manyara.

Tip: If you want to spend less hours in the car you can also choose to fly in or out famous national parks if your budget allows.

  • Do you want to be more adventurous?

If you wish to have a more adventurous trip you have plenty of options to bring your adventurous side out. Africa’s highest free-standing mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro, is located in Tanzania. Hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro can be as adventurous as it gets. You can combine Mt. Kilimanjaro with Safari and/or Zanzibar.

If your mind is set on having more days on safari you can still choose to do a day hike or an overnight at Mt. Kilimanjaro. You could also choose to climb Mt. Meru which takes less days to reach the summit.

During a safari, you could also choose to do walking safaris, or canoeing at Lake Manyara, biking or even night game drives.  These activities can be costly so you must consider what your budget is.

  • Do you want to experience the rich culture of Tanzania?

Do you want to learn more about the Maasai Tribe? Do you want to experience their culture? You can choose to combine your safari with a visit to a Maasai Boma or alternatively you can choose to stay in Africa Amini Lodge near Moshi before or after your trip where you can take part in Maasai activities.  You must note that if you do choose to visit a Maasai Boma during your safari, that these are now very touristic and might not be the authentic experience you might expect.

You could also visit the Hadzabe Tribe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes in the world.

All these activities do require extra days in your itinerary so based on the number of days you wish your trip to be, you can choose to include these.

  • Are you travelling as a family?

Taking a trip to Tanzania as a family can be the most magical and bonding experience. If you are travelling with children you might consider shorter days on safaris with short distances as children could get bored in the car.

There are plenty of family-friendly accommodations, from luxury lodges to comfortable campsites that provide a safe and enjoyable environment for families. Some lodges offer suites or adjoining rooms for added convenience.  Many safari lodges and camps offer child-friendly activities such as guided nature walks.

Educational activities help children learn about the environment, wildlife conservation, and local cultures. You can also choose to visit local schools or villages that can be a memorable and educational experience for children.

Safety is a top priority on family safaris, and experienced guides ensure a secure and informative experience.  Guides are knowledgeable about the wildlife and are skilled at creating engaging experiences for all ages.

BUDGET

What is your budget for this trip? Based on your budget, we can do our best to match the sort of experience you wish to have but if you have a low budget you must consider that some things may be limited.

Here you can also identify how many days or what type of tour is best for you. If your budget is limited but you wish to have a more luxurious trip then you could consider doing shorter days.

The more days the more costly your trip will be.  Also, the more people the less the costs will be as you share the costs of the car.

Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park can add up more as their park fees are more expensive. At Serengeti National Park where you must stay inside the park, you also have additional expenses such as concession fees that can add up to your budget.

Activities such as a balloon safari or night game drives can be costly so you should consider what activities your budget allows.

You should also consider any additional expenses during your trip such as tipping, extra drinks, visas, international flights, souvenir shopping and travel insurance.

TIME OF YEAR YOU WISH TO TRAVEL

The time of year you wish to travel can play a massive role into your budget. Does it fall during low or high season? In the low season you should be aware it could be raining and you might not be able to see as much as you would expect. However, in the low season the accommodation rates are cheaper and less crowded. During the high season, rates are more expensive and more crowded so if you wish to avoid crowded places then you could choose to travel during low season.
